Lang, Catherine Smith (nee: Gray) 1912 - 2008 Catherine (Kay) passed away in Vancouver, BC on Feb 3, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Kay will be sadly missed by her husband Art, her son Art (Sandra), her daughters Margie Menzies (Al) and Catherine Martin (Bruce); her grandchildren Michelle, Cameron, Ellen, Daniel, Stephen and Sam; great-granddaughter Julia; and many nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her. A wonderful mother, she inspired and comforted all with her warmth and caring. Born in Winnipeg, February 6, 1912, she was the last remaining sibling of two sisters (Margaret McFarlane and Jean Butterworth) and two brothers (Jack and Alex Gray). Raised in St. Vital, MB, she and her sisters had a deep bond and were known fondly by all as "The Gray Girls." Kay married Art on November 15, 1942, before he went overseas with the R.C. Engineers to serve in the Second World War. Throughout their long marriage, they criss-crossed western Canada, living in Cultus Lake; Winnipeg, MB; Edson and Edmonton, AB; Prince Albert, SK; settling in Vancouver in 1963. Our thanks to the dedicated staff at Amherst Private Hospital for their compassion and kindness. A service will be held to celebrate Kay’s life at 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at First Memorial, 602 Kingsway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. |
